Kayla Shepard
Kayla Shepard (she/her) is a Weightlifter based out of Kelowna, BC. Kayla was first introduced to Weightlifting when Vikings coaches Guy Greavette and Mike Bencsik did Weightlifting Classes through the CrossFit program at Global in 2015. Her first competition was the 2015 Ogopogo Championships and took a break from the sport before qualifying for her first National Championships in 2019. She has gone on to qualify for Nationals every year since then, with a 2nd place finish in 2022. Kayla has been competing internationally since 2022 and holds the Provincial Clean and Jerk and Total records in the 59kg class.
Kayla has been coaching CrossFit since 2018 but is most passionate about teaching others how to lift with good technique. She became a Certified NCCP Competition Introduction Coach in 2024 and hopes to give back to the sport by introducing others to Weightlifting, especially young girls.
